Look at how much he’s changed since the last time I photographed him, he grew into his rosetail and has more blue on his caudal and dorsal. Depending on the light he’ll look either blue or green.

It’s infuriates me that I see this at Wall-mart pretty much every single time I go there, it’s so heartbreaking that they allow their fish to look like this(and the aquariums are horrible, they had catfish with no fins because they put them in with the African cichlid and I usually see ick infestations). Animal abuse cannot be tolerated no matter if it’s a simple cheap fish or a expensive Goliath palm cockatoo. bettas are so often neglected as well, they need at least a 2.5g with a heater. I can understand keeping them in small cups at the store but the water must be maintained or they will die a pitiful death.
Hopefully this girl will survive and I can get some happy photos of her. If you feel like rescuing a fish from wall-mart never just buy them, go to costumer survive and get a discount and make them aware of the bettas condition.

Showing his popeye. To treat popeye I use aquarium salt and do daily 100% water-changes in a small hospital container floating in a larger aquarium for warmth. It’s usually gone between 3 days- 1 week.
